Largo LEAP 4 College Center

Largo High School is working with LEAP Tampa Bay (http://www.leaptampabay.org/) to create a new program called the LEAP 4 College Center. This will be a college and career resource center for Largo scholars to explore what they might want to do after they graduate. It will be housed in the Student Activity Center and staffed by trained parent volunteers who will meet 1:1 with students.

Here are some examples of some of the ways LEAP 4 College volunteers help students:
  • Exploration of college and career opportunities
  • Discussion about financial aid, scholarships, and FAFSA
  • Registration for College Board, Khan Academy, Bright Futures, ACT, Raise.Me, and NCA
  • Help with applications, recommendations, college visits, and college fairs
  • Coordination of special events, such as FAFSA Workshops and College Decision Day
  • Assistance with meetings with representatives from colleges, technical schools, and military branches
The LEAP 4 College Center is modeled after a similar program at Robinson High School and have won several awards for parent involvement and helped more than a thousand students over the years. The LEAP 4 College Center at Largo will start off small, but we have big plans to make a difference in the lives of Largo students!!
