College Information 1/25

Carnegie Mellon is offering pre-college/summer programs on a variety of subject areas. Pre-recorded information session links are below. Pre-College programs, like this one, are a great way to become acquainted with the University as well as boost your resume. While these programs can be quite competitive and pricey, there is need-based aid available to those that qualify.

College Board is hosting our first-ever series of free virtual college fairs called BigFuture™ Days. Encourage your teen to sign up for a chance to connect directly with college admissions representatives and current college students. They'll have a chance to explore colleges in a way that's not overwhelming, ask questions about topics they want to learn about, and take action on key college planning steps.
When your teen registers for BigFuture Days, they'll be asked to provide a parent/guardian email address. If you'd like to attend as well, you'll receive an email with a separate login to attend the event. Make sure your teen includes your email address at registration.
Your teen can attend any event and more than one.

Another installment of the weekend update with Assistant Principal Jonathan Marina

Good afternoon Largo High Family. This is assistant principal Jonathan Marina. Welcome to another installment of the weekend update.

Wearing of masks on campus is a non-negotiable. Please help us with this and encourage your child to wear the mask correctly, covering both their mouth and nose. Thank you in advance.
The Octagon Club is helping to reinstitute the school's Food Pantry. If you don't know, there are many more families here at Largo that either are homeless or food insecure and have difficulty getting what they need. An on-campus food pantry allows LHS students and their families pick up items to help them out. At the beginning of the pandemic, our School Social Worker, Tari Connell, smartly gave out all the food we had in the pantry so it wouldn't go to waste. But that means the cupboard is bare! It's time to restock. You can help by supporting The Octagon Club’s Canned Food Drive. It will run from January 20th-February 5.
The PTSA wants to thank everyone who donated to the gift card drive for LHS families in need. Together we collected over $1262 in gift cards and helped a lot of families have a happier holiday season. Thank you so much.
On Tuesday we have boys’ basketball at home against East Lake at 6:15. On Wednesday we have wrestling here at 6:15 for Senior Night. Boys’ soccer is home on Friday night at 7 pm and Boys basketball is at Manatee High.
As always, thank you for taking the time to listen. We are on a mission. The mission is graduation. Don't forget the mission.
